Learn how to absorb supplements better and get the most out of your healthy lifestyle.
Taking supplements is easy and effective (when done right). Unfortunately, many people take them with no results. Supplements are best taken by following a few methods to maximize the absorption and use.
Tip #1 – To Eat or Not To Eat?
Many times busy lifestyles lead to quick measures; such as taking supplements on an empty stomach. The truth is, most supplements should be taken 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal. The chosen meal should consist of a balanced selection of fats, proteins and carbs in order to absorb supplements better.
Meal example (breakfast): 1 scrambled egg, 1 piece of whole wheat toast with fresh avocado slices and naturally washed fruits.
Tip #2 – What Foods Do I Eat To Absorb Supplements Better?
The foods you choose may depend on the supplement you are going to take. Fish Oils, Vitamin A, D, E and K, are soluble in fat. This means the vitamins are absorbed by fat globules and travel throughout the body. These forms of supplements are stored in the body’s tissue and if the user is not cautious, high amounts can accumulate in the body.
Water soluble vitamins such as Vitamin B and C, dissolve and become absorbed once entering the body. These supplements will not accumulate in the body and essentially get “peed”out if the user over-consumes.
Tip #3 – Take All Supplements At The Same Time?
It is preferable not to take all supplements at the same time. Certain supplements can hinder the absorption of others such as Fiber. When taking Fiber as a supplement, be careful to allow at least 60 minutes so the fiber does not bind to other supplements and get excreted.
Tip: If you are taking Magnesium and Calcium, do not take them together, it will lead to malabsorption.
Learning how to absorb supplements better will enhance your supplement experience and nutritious value. Follow the methods above to absorb supplements better and reach your goal of an optimum lifestyle with ease!
